Charlestown is first settled by Europeans.
1624
(ca.) Thomas Walford and his family settle just south of Breed’s Hill. The first European residents of Charlestown, they likely made their way from the failed settlement in today’s Weymouth. They are joined by settlers from Salem in 1629.*
